Chapter 2: The Preperations

Chance's Cabin

With the village meeting finished the ambassadors held their own meeting up at Chance's Cabin, to discuss the scroll Nym received and to head out to Dragon's peak. The main room of Chance's cabin was filled with chatter, all the ambassadors were talking amongst themselves, while the dragons flew around the room playing with each other. The main room was large with a huge fireplace, and three large sofas surrounding it. with a Blue Bear skin rug in the middle of them. and a coffee table with a vase of daisies atop it and a bowl of candies.

"Can I have everyone's attention please!? Please, everyone sit down so we can talk about our next move." Chance pleaded. But no one was listening, they were all talking among themselves about what to do and no one was trying to make a plan as a team.
"SIT DOWN AN BE QUIET!!!!" Chance finally yelled after long minutes of no one listening to him. All the Ambassadors shut their mouths and looked in Chance's direction wide eyed.
"Please, everyone now that I have your Attention can you all please sit down and we can discuss this as team." "We have a real issue here, even though the elders say the dragons can stay we have to figure out why they came. Nym & I believe that the answer lies at Dragon's Peak. We may not get the whole story or truth about our dragons, but this might be just what we need to formulate a plan to defeat the big bad. Normally I would have 2 or 3 of you stay behind to watch over the village but the mission requires that all of us go to Dragon's Peak."

Doubts

Just as Chance was about to speak again a small voice spoke up,
"Is this really the only way? Is it even safe to venture that far now? The seasons are changing, the days shorter and the nights longer. We all know what happens in the winter. Are we really willing to take that risk, on the words of some baby dragons?" Sukie inquired

"Why didn't you bring this up at the village meeting, Sukie? Now you're having doubts?!" Phish asked
"I didn't want to seem like the only one of us who doesn't think this is a smart idea." Sukie explained
"But you are though. You are the only one who is doubting the mission. Don't you want to go on an adventure? See more then just our village? Find out more about Peachy-o, help us defeat the big bad?" inquired Phish

"Sukie, Nym started softly. Sukie, I know you have doubts, but the scroll says we all have to go, I know you're also scared, but you have all of us going with you. You know we are trained to defend. You & your brother are our youngest ambassadors, and if I could let you stay home just purely based on your age I would. But this goes beyond that, beyond everything. Dragon's Peak is only a 4 days journey from here. We will be there and back before you know it, and if there is a way to keep you home when we start the second half of this mission you can stay home. But for right now Sukie, you have to come with us. You have to participate. You have to fulfill your duty as an Ambassador. We will protect you!"

Sukie listened to Nyms words, and still was very unsure, until her dragon linked with her and reassured her that everything was going to be okay. With her mind at ease Sukie agreed to follow the others to Dragon's Peak, and anywhere after that.

"Ok, now that; that is settled let's discuss this creature that gave me the scroll. It looked like nothing I have ever seen before, Nym began. It was short, and it had a long pointed tail and pointy ears? or horns? that peaked through the front of its hood. It was so dark that I wasn't able to see it's face, but the robes it wore had a crest... a dragon crest on the sleeve in gold. It handed me the scroll and took off running towards the edge of the village but it completely disappeared before it got to there." She starts pacing. "I don't think the creature is the one who sent the scroll, I think someone else sent it and the creature was just the messenger, I don't think we will find out everything when we get to Dragons Peak, I think this whole thing is going to be very cryptic" She sighs. "This is going to be more than just a week away from the village i suspect."

Weapons & Magic

"How dangerous do you think this going to be Nym? Should I have packed more weapons? Should we all have more weapons? I'll be more than happy to share if anyone needs more weapons, my armory is always open." inquired Versa
"We will be gone only a week to start, Versa, We have made this journey many times before without this many weapons, why so many all of a sudden? It's going to slow us down. We need to travel light so we can cover more ground faster during the day. All this steel your carrying is going to weigh you down and thus slow us down. We can't afford to lose any time getting to Dragon's Peak." Explained Nym. Frustrated Versa finally agrees and returns to her shop to put back some of the weapons she brought with her. While Versa was at her shop the rest of the group was getting situated.

Chance starts to speak in a hurried tone "We all have to be alert and at our best for this trip, I want everyone to go home pack what you NEED, and meet me back here in 30 min. We have no more time to waste, who knows how long the sender of the scroll will wait for us."

Thirty minutes later all of the ambassadors and their dragons were out in front of Chance's cabin all carrying light back packs filled with their travel essentials. After going through a short quick check list the group was ready to head out. As they were nearing the edge of the village a voice calls out the them. It was Elder Cookie the first feline to be elected as an elder and one of the oldest members of the village. During the village meeting Cookie didn't say anything, but showed a look of approval for the dragons the entire time the village was arguing about them.
"Hold on you lot! WAIT! DON'T LEAVE YET!" Cookie huffed as she jogged slowly to catch up to the group.
"I have something for you all, it's meant to protect you out in the wild during the winter months, if you ever catch yourselves stranded out in the wilds." Cookie reaches into her pocket and pulls out a shining blue orb and hands it Whiskee & Worm. Whiskee looked down at the beautiful blue shining orb in her paws, then looked at Worm with so many questions in her eyes, as if the little dragon would know about such magic. Whiskee has been practicing magic but has never seen anything like this orb before. Her magic was potions, small spells & enchantments. She had never practiced defensive magic before. What better time to start?
"Take care of this frost orb, when you need it; its magic will protect you from whatever threatens you in the wilds during the longer nights and shorter days. There are a lot of creatures out there that would love to get their grubby little paws on the frost orb, or your dragons for that matter. Take care of each other, watch over each other, and never ever separate!" Cookie stressed, As she started to walk away back into the village, without as much as a second glance back at the group. The Ambassadors all looked at each other and then watched as cookie disappeared back into the village. Everyone said their farewells, there were some tears, and some cheers, and spirits were high, but for how long?

The Beginning

"Ok then, let's head out." Nym Said The group started out of the village all talking among themselves. The topic between all of them was not the scroll, or the mysterious creature, or the horrors that come out during the long winter nights, but the frost orb. They were all asking Whiskee questions about it. But all she could do was shrug and tell them she has never yielded this kind of magic and wouldn't know how to activate it even if she wanted to. Whiskee was worried that she and Worm wouldn't know how to use the frost orb if they needed it.
The Ambassadors and their dragons walked until the sun started to set which wasn't very long because they left mid afternoon, they needed to find a place to set up camp, but there wasn't many places to they could take cover and stay hidden from the wild creatures that come out at night. They are more horrific than anything you've ever seen before, some so bad they can't be described. They walked for a little while longer till they found a small area where they could set up their tents, and call it night so they could get an early start.
